Dear Orchid growers and friends,
Ricsel Orchids has collected during the last 20 years a large collection of orchid species and horticultural varieties. Through a continuous process of selection, the best clones are chosen for shape, color and texture. Fertilizing a plant with its own pollen is called a 'selfing'.
The offspring of a selfed plant will produce a wide variety of flowers, some will be superior in quality to the parent and some will be inferior. Most will fall somewhere in between.
Fertilizing an orchid with pollen from another orchid of the same species is called a 'sib-cross'(from sister x brother). A sib-cross is more stable and offers a greater probability of retaining the desired trait.
We always breed with exceptional plants, in order to improve the flowers quality. The more plants available from a specific cross the better the chances are for an exceptional 'award-winning'clone.
Our nursery is registered with the brazilian authorities (IBAMA),and is regularly inspected by the phytosanitary and CITES experts.
